Greetings!
How Going GREEN Now Makes Good
Sense And Can Save Big Dollars For You!
It used to be that being
eco-friendly was just for tree huggers, but now being socially
responsible actually will help your healthcare organization’s bottom
line in three different ways:
1.
Reducing
the thousands of disposables (replacing them with reusables or
reposables) that you are buying -- by 25% -- will dramatically
reduce your cost of acquisition and waste disposal cost.
2.
Reprocessing every product that you can – Pulse oximeter sensors to sharps
containers -- will save you 50% on your purchase price. Plus --
eliminate tons of disposable products from your medical waste
stream.
3.
Recycling
the metals and plastics from
your medical devices (spinal bits, blades and burrs, suture, etc.)
that are rapidly filling our landfills will guarantee that you meet
the EPA requirements and do away with fines.
With this said, Supply Chain Professionals are
the gatekeepers for almost all healthy environmental
decisions for their healthcare organizations. Therefore, it’s your
job to seek out socially responsible products and services that will
not only be safe, cost effective, but eco-friendly.

5 Little Known Secrets For Managing Multiple Value
Analysis Projects, Objectives And Deadlines!
“How To
Survive And Thrive In A High-Demanding Job”
One of the most powerful skills
you can master is how to handle multiple priorities, identify
and cut time-wasting activities, organize for efficiency, juggle
people, paper and priorities while keeping your quality high while
your productivity goes up.
As you know you and I are
constantly facing too many deadlines and too many projects all
of which need to be completed yesterday. Then a crisis comes about
and our priorities change and we scramble to get everything done.
That’s the life of a supply chain professional in today’s fast paced
and unpredictable world and a consultant’s life too.
As a consultant I have survived
and have thrived by managing multiple projects, objectives
and deadlines everyday since it’s been my life’s work for 27 years.
So I thought I would share with you my 5 little known
secrets for managing multiple projects, objectives and deadlines you
can put to work right away:
1.
Planning Will Set
You Free To Do More
We all
hate the planning process, since it takes time out of our
already “super” busy workday. Nonetheless, planning time isn’t a
waste of time; on the contrary it’s the only way to save time when
managing multiple projects. By taking time to organize your
projects, set deadlines, assign staff to the project and agree on a
course of action you have set in motion a process to avoid costly
missteps, mistakes and blunders that will cost you
even more time in the long run.
2.
Getting Organized
and Staying Organized
Now that you
have a plan you need to get organized by selecting a team
leader to execute your plan. Then stay organized by having daily,
weekly, bi-monthly or monthly project meetings to review and
update your plan.
3.
Manage Your Multiple
VA Projects With Ease
The
effortless way I have found to manage multiple projects with
ease is with project management software
(you might want to check out our
ValueNetCentral software designed
for this purpose). It
enables me and my staff to review the status of all of our
client projects at one time then make midcourse corrections when
necessary to keep us on track, on budget and on time.
4.
Handling Competing
Priorities
There are
two ways of handling competing priorities (meaning the competing
projects either need to be completed at the same time or are of
equal importance): (a) negotiate with your management to change the
due dates of your competing projects, or (b) obtain approval to add
more resources (or overtime) from your management to complete both
projects at the same time. There is no third option for
handling competing priorities that I know of that won’t have an
undesirable effect on your day to day operations.
5.
Automate, Automate,
Automate
We have
found that the fastest, easiest and most effective way to handle the
hundreds of details we all face managing multiple projects is to
automate every aspect of our projects (surveys, databases,
project status reports, training, dash-boards, etc.). This then
frees us to do the hard work of the projects and not be bogged
down by the details of each and every project.
If you want to be powerfully
productive every single day, you need to master these and other
skills so that the management of multiple projects, objectives and
deadlines doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. This way you too can
survive and thrive in a high-demanding job called supply chain
management.
